Three SR (If We Must Choose) Faves From The Poltrona Frau 2020 Home Collection

Poltrona Frau recently presented the 2020 Home Collection — and we just had to share! Poltrona Frau has such long and consolidated experience in the business that it could easily just continue to stick with what it knows. Instead they used their wealth of expertise to evolve. Designer furnishing trends change quickly, as do construction material and technology trends. Poltrona Frau stepped out of their comfort zone and rose to the challenge and created designs inspired by a way of life while maintaining their brand values. Designer furnishings that take their cue and inspiration from the latest trends but are not consumed by them, supplementing them with innovation and research as part of a long-term vision.

Martha Rocking Chair, Poltrona Frau

Poltrona Frau expands the Martha armchair range with an irreverent rocking chair, one of the new products in its 2020 collection.

Designer Roberto Lazzeroni has decided to play around with his original creation the Martha armchair, notable for its rounded forms and saddle-leather shell, a successful combination of comfort and lightness. He has added a rocking base in curved solid ash, an authentic masterpiece of wood craftsmanship, to create a comfortable and fun rocking chair. The dynamic and welcoming lines of the chair, its soft forms and contrasting materials combine to create a product whose airy, relaxed and modern elegance is even more informal and easygoing in the rocking chair version. The base is made from curved solid ash and available with a wenge or moka finish. The colour effects and material combinations underline the fluidity and lightness of the armchair. The outside of the frame is upholstered with a rich shell of Saddle Extra Leather while the inside can be covered in Pelle Frau® leather or fabric. The combination of the two materials is emphasized by the elegant visible contrast stitching carried out by hand. A soft seat cushion with removable cover in Pelle Frau® leather or fabric completes the product. Like the fixed version, the rocking chair variant is also 100% FSC® certified. The Forest Stewardship Council (or FSC®) logo guarantees that a product has been made using raw materials from correctly managed forests and is respectful of environmental sustainability. Poltrona Frau has pursued strict ethical and environmental standards for years with the aim of achieving sustainable growth. In the current climate, in which environmental issues are of increasing importance, manufacturing a product that is not only beautiful but made with respect for human and natural resources is a strong signal that is consistent with the company’s values.

Poltrona Frau Introduces Times Lounge Srmchair, Combining Functionality + Extreme Comfort With An Understated + Timeless Aesthetic

Designed by Spalvieri & Del Ciotto, it is presented for the first time as part of the 2020 collection.

PF_2020newTimesLounge.jpg

The Times Lounge armchair has a sophisticated and ultra-light structure and a cover which naturally assumes its forms like a tailored suit, making it soft and welcoming — a natural line extension from the Times bed. The materials blend together and amalgamate, their functional role lost in order to create a highly distinctive singular image. The soft wadding embraces the elegant solid wood and Pelle Frau® leather structure to form an armchair of unrivalled comfort. The leather bands become part of the structure to create a balanced spring system that supports the padding covered in fabric or Pelle Frau® leather, which is completely removable and interchangeable. The structure of the Times Lounge is produced from solid ash in a Moka or Wengé stain. The wood has a circular cross section in the visible parts and an oval cross section for the lower connecting beams. The armchair cushion support embraces the wooden structure and is made from Pelle Frau® leather. The large seat is soft and welcoming thanks to the springs of a supporting technical textile located under the seat. The lining of the backrest and armrest cushions is stitched as a single element, the lining of the seat cushion is separate and attached to the rest of the lining. The cushions are secured to the structure using hidden zips and snap buttons. The cushions can also be covered with Pelle Frau® leather and fabric. In both cases the cover can be removed, making it possible to give the armchair a new look in just a few quick steps. With the Times Lounge, Poltrona Frau continues to explore the idea of profoundly humanistic designs that interpret the real needs and requirements of the contemporary world. A coherent project that aims to make private and public spaces increasingly comfortable and functional in the belief that better homes make for better lives.

Formal Lightness, Harmonious Proportions + Extreme Comfort For The New Viola Chair

Designed By AB Concept For The 2020 Poltrona Frau Collection

PF_2020newViolia.jpg

Among the many new products in the 2020 Poltrona Frau collection, the Viola chair stands out for its sophisticated and modern reinterpretation of classic design motifs, carefully balancing Scandinavian inspirations with contemporary luxury. When Poltrona Frau asked AB Concept to design a table chair, it was well aware of the studio’s ability to create innovative and popular solutions for leading restaurants, bistros and lounge bars all over the world. The Viola chair embodies all of the know-how of the famous international brand an stands out for its simple, elegant lines that sacrifice nothing in terms of comfort. AB Concept has revisited a classic design, giving it a decidedly contemporary touch. The result is a product with great formal lightness and a solid and void effect which enhances the dining table chair both when it is used alone and when it is combined with a table. The solid wood of the backrest is embellished with a weave made from sixty saddle-leather laces which connect it to the frame. Its harmonious and ergonomic proportions, combined with a generous and welcoming seat, guarantee the utmost comfort even when sitting for long periods. Despite being solid and well constructed, the seat is light and easy to move. The frame of the chair is made from solid ash in a Moka or Wenge stain embellished with a weave made from dark brown or natural saddle-leather laces. The seat spring system consists of elastic belts. There are soft cushions on the seat and backrest. The seat cushion is filled with polyurethane foam and polyester wadding while the backrest is padded with down and has an insert in polyurethane foam. The two cushions form a single whole which is fixed to the frame using two snap buttons. The removable upholstery is in Pelle Frau® leather or fabric. With the Viola chair Poltrona Frau confirms its vocation for designing products that successfully fuse the past with the present. Items of furniture and objects inspired by cultured and profound design concepts which are able to transcend time.
